You can build anything in Lego, including Melbourne’s fleet of trams and trains.
Here we see a W class tram on the City Circle passing Flinders Street Station.
And a B2 class tram.
The straddle carrier and gantry cranes used to assemble the ‘Skyrail’ viaduct between Caulfield and Oakleigh.
X’Trapolis, Hitachi and 4D suburban trains.
V/Line VLocity train.
V/Line Sprinter train.
V/Line N and P class diesel locomotives.
Qube container train.
Castlemaine station.
And a huge collection of preserved Victorian Railways steam locomotives.
A Queensland tangent
Here is a Lego version of Queensland Rail’s Redbank Workshops.
And a QR National coal train.
And the real thing
Back in 2014 tram D1.3504 received an advertisement for the theatrical release of ‘The Lego Movie’.
Footnote: Hong Kong
I’ve done this before on my other blog – Recreating Hong Kong scenes in Lego.
Sources
I found the tram models at the Legoland Discovery Centre at Chadstone, the other trains are the work of Melbourne L-Gauge Train Club members who exhibit at the annual Brickvention display.
The straddle carrier and gantry crane model was at the Level Crossing Removal Authority’s Murrumbeena Info Hub (closed in 2018) while the Queensland models were at the Workshops Rail Museum in Ipswich.
